Garnet sand, made by grinding garnet as raw material, has the characteristics of high hardness, high temperature resistance, stable chemical properties, uniform particle size, high grinding efficiency, and no scratches.
Features:
(1) The texture of garnet sand is hard, with a Mohs hardness of 7.1 or above, which is higher than the hardness of commonly used sandblasting materials such as quartz sand, sea sand, and river sand, and has a long service life.
(2) Due to the fact that garnet is an equiaxed crystal with no cleavage, it is easy to form approximately cubic particles with sharp edges after sandblasting, and its sandblasting effect is better for rust removal. It can not only thoroughly remove rust, oxide scale, coatings and pollutants on the metal surface, but also, due to its high hardness, can produce ideal angular rough surfaces on the cleaned metal surface, increase the surface area of the metal, improve the bonding strength of the interface, and significantly enhance the bonding strength between the corrosion-resistant protective coating and the metal surface, thereby improving the bonding performance between the coating and the metal surface.
(3) The density is relatively high, usually around 4g/cm ³, with strong impact force, which can better clean the metal surface.
(4) High strength, it is not easy to break when spraying on metal surfaces, and even if it breaks, new particles with sharp edges resembling cubes will be produced. Therefore, it can be reused repeatedly, generally up to 20 times or more. It is 20 times the number of times siliceous sand (sea sand or river sand) is used, and more than twice the number of times quartz sand (artificially made) is used. Its relative cost for one use is relatively low.

Processing of garnet sand
Selected content of 85.4% garnet rock ore, artificial drying so that the moisture content is less than 4.7%, mechanical crushing and acid washing (to remove impurities) washing (to remove sand and dust), the second artificial drying (to facilitate the sieve dust), the moisture content is less than 5%. Finally, it is screened and packed by advanced secondary sieving process (to make the particles more uniform).
Main application of garnet sand
Due to its high hardness and good chemical properties, garnet sand is widely used in industrial production. The quality requirements for garnet mainly include hardness, purity, and particle size, and the quality requirements vary depending on the application. For special applications, there are also requirements for the particle size composition of the product, but there is no unified regulation, mainly agreed upon by the supply and demand parties. The use of garnet can be divided into abrasive garnet and non abrasive garnet.
(1) Sandblasting rust removal for steel structures, ship hulls, bridges, etc;
(2) Water jet cutting of metals, stones, glass, etc;
(3) Filter media for chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, and water treatment industries;
(4) Grinding of materials such as marble, optical lenses, glassware, leather, etc;
(5) Grinding wheel, oilstone, sanding cloth, sandpaper raw materials;
(6) Wear resistant materials such as highway pavement, airplane runway, wear-resistant rubber, and anti slip paint;
(7) Widely used in the construction industry, high-end real stone paint exterior wall decoration and interior decoration have a noble and elegant temperament. Ideal new non-metallic wear-resistant floor aggregate.
